    Contacts

When we check contacts by clicking on the address book in Windows Live mail,
we have 3060 contacts and they are in appropriate groups as created
originally before we used Live. We have about 30 groups or categories to
    organize our contacts.

When we open Live Messenger, there are all the categories but no names, zip,
    zero.

We have 0 contacts and categories in Windows Contacts, as we deleted them
after exporting them to Windows Live Contacts.

When we go to Live.com, we have 6500 contacts. We have also have the same
categories listed but there is 0 in each categories. When we try to 'clean
up' contacts under 'manage' we always get 'Your contacts are temporarily
unavailable. Please try again later. Microsoft may contact you about any
    issues you report'

This would be a great system if it would work. We get unavailable notices
quite often and freeze ups. We have already tried to do a couple of things
suggested for the above error message, but hasnt worked. We have also
uninstalled and reinstalled Live, but still same issues. Really need to print
emails and sychronize contacts... Please advise. Thank you!

    Re: Contacts

Same Live ID in use in WLM and WLMsgr ?

Windows Contacts does not sync with WLM or WLMsgr...there is no relation among these.
    - it might be good idea to have redundant copies of the original Windows Contacts *.csv file if made as extra insurance.

Fyi...there have been a few other issues with accessing Hotmail accounts and contacts that may be server related and prevent
syncrhonization from the web to WLM or WLMsgr.

The web interface cleanup will not function if the service shows as temporarily or not available. Avoid its use.

I would refrain from removing or reinstalling anything at this time.

If you need to print an email...until the system is fixed....use the web interface to forward it to another non Live ID email
address in WLM or a different email client.

    Re: Contacts

    Yes, same Live ID

We already deleted Windows contacts & categories, as we thought it does not
    sync with WLM or WLMsgr

I realized yesterday we could not print email from hotmail.com either. I
have to copy and paste into Word pad or something, this is a pain.

Thank you for replying, however you have answered nothing - we need to know
how to fix these issues. Can anyone help us out there in the huge world of
Microsoft? We can't be the only ones with these problems?

    Doug..
This is a peer to peer newsgroup. It is not a Msft support moderated group. No one in here is from Msft.

Fyi..printing in Hotmail.com web interface is an IE issue, not WLM.
If IE8 is installed, does it occur if IE8 is reverted to IE7(or IE6) ?

If responses don't yield results..contact WLM or Hotmail Support.
    - WLM Support
    1. Logon to http://account.live.com using your Windows Live ID, the cut and paste one the following urls to your browsers address
bar, the press the enter key
    https://support.live.com/default.asp...=wlmaildesktop
    or
    https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?...top&ct=eformts
    2. Click on the first item in the left hand pane FAQ List(e.g. click on How do I install and run WLM for the first time) then allow
that item to load in the right hand pane
    3. Look in lower right, click on 'Get more Help', allow that page to load
    4. Click on 'Get Support', the e-form will load.

Note..Logging one with your Live ID in step 1 at account.live.com should also ensure that your account's Full name and email
address fields are automatically filled in on the e-form

    Hotmail Support
    Hotmail Online Solutions Center
    - requires creation of a username/pw that will also be linked to a Live ID
    - Live ID username is **Not** visible to the public

Doug's reference to not printing could be emails in WLM, but that would
still be an IE issue because IE controls the printing.

    Yes...
I think we've it covered either way..
At Hotmail.com or mail received in WLM using a hotmail.com email address still points to IE and most likely IE8.
