| | slow deletes My emails in Windows Live Mail are very fast to download and view, but VERY slow to delete. When I hit my delete key on an email, it takes a FULL 5 SECONDS before the email deletes. This is exasperating. I like most other aspects of the mail client, but this 1 things is driving me nuts. Is there a solution? -- SweatCoder |

Make sure your antivirus is not configured to scan emails. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "SweatCoder" <SweatCoder@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:2CA75C8F-2102-46D1-B0F7-BDB829FCEE73@xxxxxx Quote: > My emails in Windows Live Mail are very fast to download and view, but VERY > slow to delete. | | Re: slow deletes It's a gmail account, and on xp I used Outlook Express, and it was all POP. But it seems that Windows Live Mail will only use IMAP. So I had to go into gmail and enable IMAP. (Can WLM be configured to use POP instead of IMAP?) Why would antivirus make deletes slower? I could understand if mail downloads or reads were slow because of this, but I don't think antivirus would try to scan it at delete time. Would it? I think I'm using windows built in antivirus but that's all. That setting is found in the GMail interface for that email address under Options and must be enabled prior to setting up the account in a local email client. Settings for setting up a GMail account as a pop3 account are also available in the GMail Help pages. WLM supports pop3, Http(for Hotmail accounts using DeltaSync) and imap(for any email address that supports Imap). WLM also supports pop3 for Gmail. | | Re: slow deletes If you want speed, I suggest you delete that Gmail IMAP account, and manually set up that Gmail account as POP3. Follow these instructions: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...y?answer=86383 Those instructions are for Windows Mail but will also work for Windows Live Mail . Windows does not have a built-in antivirus. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "SweatCoder" <SweatCoder@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:8658CC73-8911-4C7F-A806-62767D7553AE@xxxxxx Quote: > It's a gmail account, and on xp I used Outlook Express, and it was all POP. > But it seems that Windows Live Mail will only use IMAP.
