Create new folders for all Accounts

Create new folders for all Accounts

I don't see any option to create new folders that will be in the Folder Pane
for all Accounts. Like I was able to do in OE, Outlook, etc.

I can create a new "Personal" folder, for example, in each of my six accounts.

"In the lower-left corner of the window, click the Mail icon or the Feeds
    icon .
Click the arrow next to New, and then click Folder.
Type a name, and then select a location for the new folder.
    Click OK."

The above instructions only work for each account, or am I missing something.

No, you're not missing anything. Windows Live Mail is account-centric.
However, you can set up a dummy account, and use it to hold your
custom folders. Storage Folders was meant for that, but the inability
to move it to the top of the folder list makes it less useful.

    You are not missing anything.
Folders can be created in each account or in the Storage folders..
    - the latter is recommended, especially for pop3 accounts, since removing an account deletes the folder and contents from WLM and
    your hard drive.

    Thanks, Gary.
After 13 years I was just getting use to the Folder concept in OE and
    Windows Mail.

Since I'm using 7 (RC), I guess I better look towards Thunderbird or Outlook.

    Gary,
I don't think that Pete is even seeing Storage Folders. (View, Layout,
Folder pane, check Show storage folders.) Pete is accessing the newsgroup
using the Web interface, so he doesn't know that Sent items for newsgroups
    is under Storage folders.
If Storage folders are not visible (the default), then the option to create
a new folder in Storage folders is not available.

I had the impression Pete wanted to create top-level folders, as you can
in OE/WM directly under Local Folders.

If you are using WebDAV in OE and wish to retain the mirrored web folders for a Hotmail account, the value will be apparent
    immediately on Sept 1.

You are missing the "Storage folders", which are located below the "Outbox"
in the folder pane. I don't recall that I ever had to turn them on, however,
if you have more than a couple of accounts, and the account folders are
expanded, the "Storage folders" slip down out of sight, and require using
the slider bar at the right of the folder pane to scan down to see them.
They serve the exact same function as the "Local Folders", except that they
are listed below the account folder trees, and can't be permanently
relocated above them (i.e., you can move them while WLMail is open, but they
return to their default location after closing, and reopening WLMail).
