Hiding CC and BCC and Backing Up Messages

Hi Everybody,

I'm just wondering if anybody can help me with these queries.

First one I have is hiding CC and BCC in Windows Live Hotmail after you choose to show them. I have done a bit of research and I have been informed that you can go to view - then uncheck show / hide headers. I have tried this but I can't find it anywhere in my Microsoft Explorer browser? Is this the right way?

The second is about backup. Is there a way to backup all of my email messages to my hard drive?

I'm using Windows Live Hotmail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Polar

Re: Hiding CC and BCC and Backing Up Messages

Windows Live Mail is an email client installed on your computer. It can
sync Hotmail accounts to your computer. It runs under XP, Vista, or Win 7.
download.live.com

View - then uncheck Show / hide headers is only available in an email
composition window.

Since you appear to be asking about Windows Live Hotmail, accessed by MS
Internet Explorer, you would probably find better answers in a group other
than one dedicated to a mail and news client (Windows Live Mail), running
locally on a computer. At least, I don't know how th answer your question in
the context of using Windows Live Mail (the mail and news client). And I
really don't know which group is appropriate for Hotmail questions, any
more. That has changed since I started posting here, and I've lost track of
where such questions should be posted.

Re: Hiding CC and BCC and Backing Up Messages

In the Hotmail interface, if the CC and BCC fields are enabled(shown) and IE is configured to Accept all cookies, then the web
interface retains that setting until the user deletes the responsible cookie.

If IE's cookie setting is set to Medium(and the cookie does not exist)..The CC and BCC fields when 'shown' are retained until Live
ID 'sign out' and will not be present on the next access(signon) until one clicks on 'Show' again option.

Hotmail does not have a method to backup messages from the web interface.
Select and copy and paste into a word processor supporting html is the only and not always efficient workaround(this method does
not save the file with an email extension)

Re: Hiding CC and BCC and Backing Up Messages

Installing Windows Live Mail would move the messages to your computer.
Would that be a backup?

Re: Hiding CC and BCC and Backing Up Messages

Ron,
Yes...if using DeltaSync. Pop3(not without significant effort). I guess one could call the former a backup as long as full message
headera and bodies were downloaded locally.

I'm cautius about mentioning that route...without knowing the anyone's prior system info(OE, WM etc)..they could end up with
something unmanageable(migration) even before setting up a Hotmail account to sync the web folders.
