| | Text attachments - carriage returns inserted into attachment I have encountered what appears to be a bug in Windows Live Mail. When I attached text files to a message some times WLM inserts carriage returns into the attachment just as if the text in the message is being word wrapped to handle long lines in the mailer. Has anyone else encountered this problem? |

| | Re: Text attachments - carriage returns inserted into attachment It's a long standing bug ("feature") going back to the IE3 Internet Mail and News Program. If you are using MIME format and attach a file that is mostly text (doesn't have to be a TXT file, it can even happen to some PDF and other files), WLM may choose to use quoted-printable (QP) encoding rather than Base64. Some developer in the dark ages probably thought he was being smart since QP would result in a smaller message. Unfortunately QP encoded attachments can run into wrapping and other issues. You have 3 options: 1) Use Uuencode instead (Tools, Options, Send, Mail Plain Text Settings. Not an option if using HTML format. 2) Zip the file and attach that. More work for you and the recipient. 3) Use another mail program without this "feature". Outlook Express has the same bug. And I'd guess that Vista Windows Mail does as well, since they've all been built on code and bugs going back to the IE3 Internet Mail and News program. -- Mike - http://TechHelp.Santovec.us "Syl" <Syl@xxxxxx> wrote in message news E9C6280-60F8-41BC-BAEC-ED520A90962B@xxxxxxQuote: > I have encountered what appears to be a bug in Windows Live Mail.
