Rcvd. email topic = Final Notice: Important info for Hotmail cust

Dear Windows Live Hotmail Customer,

You are receiving this note because you have used Microsoft Office Outlook,
Outlook Express, or Entourage to view your Windows Live HotmailĀ®. Microsoft
is changing the way these programs access Hotmail e-mail which will require
you to take action.
To continue to receive e-mail from your Hotmail account, please select one
of the alternative solutions below before September 1, 2009. After this day,
new e-mail can only be delivered to your mail programs through the following
alternative solutions
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The above is copy and paste of the e-mail I received. I'm on windows Vista
64 bit and my e-mail address ends in @msn.com. Do I need to do anything the
WLM I use is setup (going from memory) useing pop3 and imap, not "DAV"
protocol.
Thanks in advance

If you are using Windows Live Mail, you can choose either POP3 access, or
HTTPMail access. In WLMail, the latter uses the newer "DeltaSync" protocol,
and not the deprecated "WebDAV" protocol.

If you are using Windows Mail, you must use POP3 access because Windows Mail
doesn't include HTTPMail capability.

The advantage of HTTPMail is that your email remains on the server, and you
can synchronize the local client from any computer, at any location.

Re: Rcvd. email topic = Final Notice: Important info for Hotmail cust

Ron,
You need to do nothing in WLM if using pop3 or DeltaSync.

You would only have to do something if you were using one of these servers in your email accounts server properties.
WebDAV Servers to be retired in Sept 2009
http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata (used with Msn.com accounts)
http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp (used with Hotmail.com accounts)
http://oe.hotmail.com/secure/hmdata (old server, very rare pre 2002 account creation , used with Hotmail.com accounts)

Re: Rcvd. email topic = Final Notice: Important info for Hotmail

Thank you for the replies, Winston since I am set up for
incoming mail as pop3.live.com - outgoing is smtp.live.com. Am I OK for the
september change over? Or if not how do I or where do I go to confirm I'm not
using the "http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata" (used with
Msn.com accounts) since I do have an @msn.com account?
Sure glad you guys know this stuff .. Thanks.
