| | Re: Progress window does not show Hi, Mikey. In addition to the Working online/offline label, there is a now-you-see-it-now-you-don't set of messages that appear when Sync is running. In the News UI, when I click Sync Everything, I first see "Authorizing", then "Checking mail" for each of my Mail Accounts, then Checking News, then Retrieving Posts...and finally 3 New Messages. I may not have the messages and sequence exactly right because they flash by pretty quickly, but that is the general pattern. Then when I click just about anywhere on the screen, the final message there disappears without a trace - until the next time I Sync everything. As I look there at this moment, there is nothing on the right end of the Status Bar but "Working online" and the blue orb. Click Sync everything and then watch that corner of your screen. While there is a message being displayed there, click on it to bring up the Progress window if it is not already onscreen. RC -- R. C. | | Re: Progress window does not show No...it doesn't...just calls up the window if the prior activity is still occurring ...look at the numbers(tasks) at the bottom, you'll notice that the cycle is only complete once if still in progress. Clicking on the icon in the status bar yields the same... You might also finding that moving the cursor from the top of the screen(Sync button) to the bottom(icon in the status bar), or pressing F5/CtrlF5 then moving the cursor to click the icon in the status bar will take more time than clicking on the Sync button twice. Note: the icon that is available in the status bar is present for a short time(before disappearing) enabling one to review the tasks, but it only shows past action(sync has already occurred) not current. -Thus if you wish to see progress..press twice or be quick enough to click one and then the other, or press the required keys twice. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "mikeyhsd" <mikeyhsd@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:u4wUARnJKHA.1488@xxxxxx Quote: > what that does is double the number if items to sync. > > have resorted to using sync for mail and then when it is done to sync everything. > sometimes even that does not produce the progress window. > > mikeyhsd@xxxxxx > > > > "...winston" <winstonmvp@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23C$NKUeJKHA.1376@xxxxxx > Try performing the action twice(and prior to the original progress completing) > > -- > ...winston > ms-mvp mail > > "mikeyhsd" <mikeyhsd@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uyhFKhdJKHA.4652@xxxxxx Quote: > > all too frequently the progress window fails to show when using SYNC EVERYTHING or CNTRL + F5. > > the operation progress but the window does not show. > > > > anyone else seen this or know a fix. > > > > W7 RTM 64 bit. atI display card with latest drivers. happened on both previous releases of W7. > > > > > > mikeyhsd@xxxxxx > > > > > > |

| | Re: Progress window does not show No..I didn't No - referred to your earlier comment "what that does is double the number if items to sync." - it does not double the items sync'd if you accomplish the task while the progress is still occurring. To see the progress window...you have the previous mentioned options 1. Click sync a second time while the activity(progress) is still occurring 2. Press F5 or Control F5 a second time while the activity is occurring 3. Clicking the changing icons in the status bar while the activity is still occurring(see R.C. 's post below 'about now-you-see-it-now-you-don't set of messages' 4. Clicking the icon in the status bar immediately after the activity has completed(this option is only available for a few seconds after activity is completed) I.e. to see the progress window, you have to act while its occurring or the few seconds that #4 is available. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "mikeyhsd" <mikeyhsd@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#8RdysxJKHA.4168@xxxxxx Quote: > never noticed that , will take a look, next time I SYNC everything > even though winston says it will not work. > it is still worth a look as this is SO puzzling. > > mikeyhsd@xxxxxx > > > > "R.
