    Default Stationery

    Hi all,

The first NEW email that I try to create in each Windows Live Mail session,
always produces the error message "Unable to create stationery". When I reply
OK, a new email template opens up without any further error. Within the same
Live Mail session, all subsequent requests for new emails open up OK without
    the satationery error.
I have composed a new stationery object (Tools, Options, Compose, etc.) and
saved the stationery successfully in My Stationery. But the error still
    persists.

How can I set the default stationery, or whatever else is required, to stop
    this eror message???

I don't use stationery but if I got your symptom I would try using ProcMon
to find out why. E.g. it could be that there's a problem copying from
one place to another and then the recovery process for that error results
in doing exactly what the error was reporting could not be done.
Or it could be that the recovery process picks somewhere else to copy to
and that works. Then that would be "working as designed" (aka WAD)
though then you might be able to figure out how to prevent the initial error. ; )

    Good luck

I've had the same problem not only in this version but in the previous
version also with both my computers, it's a bit irritating as i do like
using stationary in my emails. it's a pity they haven't sorted this bug out
    yet.

    Hi Neil,

I've had this problem for months first on Vista and now on Windows 7 - so
it's not that then! There must be loads of people out there with this message
    popping up.

What is Live Mail doing when it's trying to create the stationery? Surely it
is already created. If it's copying the default stationery to another area
(presumably the Live Mail Directory on the c: drive) could it be that there
is an old copy floating around with some file attribute preventing it from
    being overwritten?

I am also having the exact same problem. I wish that Microsoft would just
fix the bug, do an update and be done with it. This never was a problem in
Outlook express. It can't be a major problem, since after the first error,
the problem goes away for the rest of the session. It is an annoyance more
    than anything
