| | Won't filter certain addresses into desired folders I have four sets of addresses that I cannot get a filter to move to the a desired proper folder. 1. Any Facebook related address. 2. Any email processed by SafeUnsubscribe (A legitimate email marketing organization that processes mass mailings. The header always has the real sender in the from line and the proper recipient in the to line. 3. Britannica Online 4. Merrium-Webster's Word of the Day. I've tried filtering based on the from, to, subject line, and material in the body. Nothing works. Any suggestions? |

| | Re: Won't filter certain addresses into desired folders Apart from a couple of minor bugs, message rules seem to work exactly as intended, so there's probably something wrong with yours ![]() You can't use rules to messages received via HTTP or IMAP. When you say 'nothing works', do you mean that messages on receipt don't get filtered by your rules? Or that the rules don't do anything when you 'Apply now'? One of the bugs relates to 'Apply now'. It's not just the action of the rules that count, but also in which order they get applied. If you want to apply more than one filter to a message, they have to be in the right order. If you don't, then it should end with 'Stop processing more rules'. Could you copy and paste one of the rules into your reply so we can examine it? A screenshot of the Rules dialogue would help, too. There's been an update to WLMail from the version you're running. I don't know whether the bugs in Rules have been squashed, but you might want to try anyway: http://download.live.com/wlmail -- Noel "I Dig Weeds" <idigweeds@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:Ows16KtJKHA.4136@xxxxxx Quote: > I have four sets of addresses that I cannot get a filter to move > to the a desired proper folder. > > 1. When I say nothing works, I mean that when the mail downloads, the filters do not filter them into the folder I have assigned to them. They all end up in the "unsorted" folder where I put things that are not specifically sorted into a specific folder. What I have discovered since my post is that the the rules I created lacked a "stop processing more rules" rule., so they just slid through to be sorted by the next applicable rule, which in this case was a rule that takes anything not yet sorted and placed it in my "unsorted" folder. |
