| Vista Home Premium | Hit Reply and mail sends without reply Suddenly things have gone crazy in my email--when I click on an email it automatically opens--when I hit reply before allowing me to reply it sends the mail out. I have to hit forward in order to be able to reply. Hope someone can help. |

Sounds like a mouse problem. Use the keyboard instead. Quote: > I have to hit forward in order to be able to reply. Hope someone can > help. Set Work Offline (JIC); e.g. press Alt-F,W. Then press Ctrl-r Another thing to watch out for if you are still getting an automatic send is to check if a Ctrl- key is sticking. E.g. in that case as soon as you press Enter the message would be sent. All of MS mail clients have a little known "feechur" that pressing Ctrl-Enter does a Send. So if a Ctrl- key is sticking you could send one simply by pressing Enter in an initial editing step. Note: a stuck Ctrl- key is usually only stuck in the OS's understanding. To unstick it you need to press and release the *other* Ctrl- key. HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- |

| Vista Home Premium | Re: Hit Reply and mail sends without reply Thank you for your reply--however I have tried your suggestion and checked the control key and neither solved the problem. The problem with emails going out before I can reply is getting worse and now when I click an email in order to delete--it opens really fast and I have to repeatedly close it in order to try to delete. Would I be better off going back to outlook? |

| | Re: Hit Reply and mail sends without reply Hi, Embrace. I've read just about every message in this live.mail.desktop newsgroup for the past 2+ years and I've never seen another user report this problem. Which makes me believe that the problem must be unique to your computer. I suppose there could be a software explanation, but it sounds to me like a hardware problem. As Robert said, the first guess would be the mouse; the second thought would be a sticking key - but you've checked out both of those. The next link in the chain might be the drivers for the mouse and keyboard. You haven't told us anything about your hardware yet. What is the make and model of your computer (or the motherboard/CPU/BIOS if you built it yourself)? What about your mouse and keyboard? Quote: > Would I be better off going back to outlook? after all. It might help to uninstall WLM and install it again - maybe even re-download it from http://download.live.com to be sure that you didn't get a garbled download. There could be other factors in your environment, such as strong RF interference from a TV or other electrical equipment nearby...but now I'm clutching at straws so I'll quit stabbing in the dark (and mixing metaphors). Do you have a geeky friend who can look over your shoulder and help you with some trial and error testing of your system? RC -- R. C. If the message left the Outbox while you had Work Offline set you must have incorrect settings on your General tab. Try unchecking everything in the Send/Receive Messages section. That sounds like your mouse is giving a doubleclick indication when you only want a single click. Try using right-click and press Esc instead then to avoid that problem.
