Managing Contacts between WL and WLM

I need help understanding how to keep my contacts in sync on both the
WL/server and WLM/database on my computer, what is being synchronized
automatically by the system and what must be performed manually. Please
explain:

1) When I add/edit contacts on WL/server, how do I make sure the changes
apply on the WLM database on my computer?

2) When I add/edit contacts on WLM database on my computer, how do I make
sure the changes apply on WL/server?

3) When do I need to use the synch function on WLM (regarding contacts only)?

4) When do I need to use the import/export function on WLM (regarding
contacts only)?

Thank You,
A.

Make sure Windows Live Mail is signing in to the Windows Live services with
the same Windows Live ID you used to access the server.

As long as WLMail is signed in with the same Windows Live ID as you will use
to access the server, the "F5" key ("Synch all") should do it.

Probably only just before you close WLMail; if even then.

Whenever you are copying a contact list to a different application than
WLMail, for from a different application than WLMail. Also when copying
to/from another service than Windows Live (as in copying Yahoo! Mail
contacts). If you only ever use Windows Live Mail, with a single Windows
Live account, I don't see why you would need to use import/export.
