| | Usenet rules: nothing seems to work I've tried blocking senders on Usenet, making their posts a certain color, etc....nothing works. I have junk email filtering set to off in email but surely this couldn't influence a Usenet setting could it? I can't think of why my Usenet filtering doesn't work. When I want to block a sender does it matter if I use their displayed name or the actual email address it came from? I've tried both. But I was wondering which is correct. |

| | Re: Usenet rules: nothing seems to work There's a bug in the news messages rules. A From header can be of two forms: 1) From: Name <e-mail address> 2) From: e-mail address A news message rule does NOT check the e-mail address in form #1 within the < >. It will match the e-mail address in form #2. And it will match if checking for Name. Note that rules do not support wild cards. They do an exact string match with the string being contained in the field. -- Mike - http://TechHelp.Santovec.us "Will" <reply.to.group@newsgroup> wrote in message news:u1W#KJKNKHA.3412@newsgroup Quote: > I've tried blocking senders on Usenet, making their posts a certain > color, etc....nothing works. This hasn't ever worked I understand. How could they let this go for so long unaddressed? Anyway, I've tried blocking the email address as well and it doesn't work. Do I need to restart WLM to see it work? |
