| | Notify me of replies I had a email notification from Microsoft to say that I had a reply to my question on here earlier - Ref (Send/Receive Tab) Not much use though when both the links they provided to take me directly here don't work. Anyone else having this problem? |

Login before trying to use the links. Even better use the E-mail as a cue to login, open your Profile and use its links (assuming they are still there before you try to use one of the bad redirecting links. Nobody has told me exactly how it is supposed to work. I just know they get listed in your Profile and disappear from there--sometime.) Alternatively, you can notice that the links contain doubly escaped reserved characters (to try to survive the multiple redirects), so you can just extract the full URL manually by doing your own unescaping. Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- |

So if he knew the notification was for this newsgroup he could just open your link, press Ctrl-h and see his thread with some new unread posts in it. So, does WLMail have a notification feature too?... F1. Search for: Communities. 0 hits. Search for: Notif* 1 hit. Irrelevant ("Notification area") Conclusion: I don't think so. ; ) BTW same thing I think with the Calendar and WLMail?... Hmm... maybe not? The claim is that WLMail will "remind" you of scheduled events--if you are logged in with a Live ID of course. So it may do that without resorting to E-mail? Must test. That could be handy. Ah. Nothing fancy in WLMail it seems. A more honest description is hidden as a definition item: <quote> Reminder: (A scheduled message that Windows Live Mail sends to you to remind you that an event in your calendar is about to occur. Reminders can be sent to your e-mail account, to your Windows Live Messenger account, or to your cell phone. You can change how reminders are delivered on the Windows Live Calendar website.) </quote> (F1. Search for: calendar AND reminder. About Calendars in Windows Live Mail. Ctrl-F find for reminder ) So, I think it is a large overstatement to say "Windows Live Mail sends to you". It's Hotmail that does the scheduling and sending. WLMail is just the receiver of one of those methods of notification (e.g. the E-mail method.) All WLMail does for calendar AFAICS is provide an alternative UI. Robert --- |
