Slow WLM and high CPU usage

High been using WLM since it came out but been having problems with High CPU
usage,

It's ok when first run from boot up I can check my emails News feed with no
problem but if I go back to it to check my emails after shutting down the
program and relaunching the CPU usage jumps up to over 90% and stays there,
and the memory usage jumps to over 300mb. Trying to Update feeds or
newsgroups
cause the program to freeze and become non responsive.

I have totally uninstalled it and cleared all of the email storage folders
etc, then reinstalled it clean re-entering all of my settings and sure
enough 1st run is ok, subsequent runs still exhibit the same problem.

I have gone through a few threads on this, checked that there are no
contacts with odd characters, everything suggested but to no avail.

Has anyone got any advice on how to rectify this problem.

Using Windows XP SP3
Athlon64 3200
2g ram
1tb HDD

KIS 2010

Using version 14.0.8089.0726

Thanks for any help.

Re: Slow WLM and high CPU usage

How long does WLMail run before you close it?
What is the reason for closing it?
How many email accounts?
Do you login with a Live ID?

Re: Slow WLM and high CPU usage

Thanks for the reply Ron I have answered your questions below

Quote:

> How long does WLMail run before you close it?
I check all of my emails and feeds for about 15 minutes in the morning
before working on the PC.
Quote:

> What is the reason for closing it?
I close it down to do other things like working with photos etc without
being interrupted with emails every 10 mins, does impact on productivity
leaving work aside to check emails.
Quote:

> How many email accounts?
I have 4 email accounts on there 2 Gmail 1 AOL and 1 Hotmail, no problem
with the checking of emails really they arrive after in around 1 to 2
minutes, but
when I go to check feeds or newsgroups it freezes and the CPU usage jumps
up, I can leave this for over 5 minutes with no response from the PC, then I
have to shut down wlmail.exe with task manager.
Quote:

> Do you login with a Live ID?
I have tried with and without logging in with a live ID and there is no
difference in the performance.

Also I am Using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 (9.0.0.736) but I have the
same problem with Version 2009 there is no noticeable increase in the CPU
usage in avp.exe during the feeds or newsgroup updates.

Re: Slow WLM and high CPU usage

Well after a few months of this problem I have had enough of windows
live mail, and have now moved over to Thunderbird. It took a bit of
configuring but at least it works with no lock ups unlike WLM.

Thanks to those who tried to help,

TGH
