| | Cannot read e-mails. Suddenly have .txt and .htm attachments This afternoon it was getting slow when I would open up an e-mail. Now in both the preview pane and when I open the e-mail, the e-mail appears to be empty except for 2 new files that are attachments. A .txt file and a .htm file. The .txt file contains the characters of the e-mail. If I want to read the e-mail, I now have to open up the .txt file. If I double-click on the .htm file, it opens up the e-mail in windows Explorer. The option to read in plain text is NOT turned on. Any ideas? Thanks -- Cliff |

| | Re: Cannot read e-mails. Suddenly have .txt and .htm attachments Is that all e-mails or just one? If you haven't already done it, shutdown and restart Windows. This sometimes fixes the problem. - If you still have a problem then try Start, Run and enter: regsvr32 inetcomm.dll - If that doesn't help, then see if the fix in this article applies: Message Appears Blank and Has an ATT000XX.txt or ATT000XX.htm Attachment http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=312351 - If that doesn't help, then in Internet Explorer, select View, Encoding and uncheck Auto-Select and choose instead "Western European (ISO)". Then try reading your messages. -- Mike - http://TechHelp.Santovec.us "CliffTex" <CliffTex@newsgroup> wrote in message news:C23D99A7-A58C-4393-A4C1-0BBCD9A5C37C@newsgroup Quote: > This afternoon it was getting slow when I would open up an e-mail. > Now in > both the preview pane and when I open the e-mail, the e-mail appears > to be > empty except for 2 new files that are attachments. | | Re: Cannot read e-mails. Suddenly have .txt and .htm attachments It was all e-mails were affected. I tried the dll and got an error. Because the support article mentioned Temporary Internet Files which I Delete frequently, I decided to download CCleaner and I ran it and it deleted a large amount of Temporary Internet Files and it FIXED my mail problem. Yeah! Thanks -- Cliff "Michael Santovec" wrote: Quote: > Is that all e-mails or just one? > > If you haven't already done it, shutdown and restart Windows.
