| | Occasionally WLM will download all old POP3 messages from a Yahoo About every day WLM will just start downloading thousands and thousands (like 50,000+) of old emails from a POP3 Yahoo account. These emails aren't even on the server. It is really annoying because I have to go cancel the sync process to get my regular emails and to have it send emails. If I forget to do this sometimes emails won't get sent for hours and hours. This never happened with WLM v12. Can I revert to 12? |

| | Re: Occasionally WLM will download all old POP3 messages from a Yahoo You have two different problems (unwanted synchronization with your Yahoo account - and "50,000+ of old emails from a POP3 Yahoo account"). Firstly, I don't understand how WLMail can download messages, if they really aren't present on the server. I suspect that there could be many messages that are still on the server - and there is a problem with one message, which is preventing the download from completing properly. A very large or corrupted message could cause this problem. And if download does not complete properly, your mail client will not delete downloaded messages from the server. Then, your mail client (WLMail) will attempt a further download, next time it connects to the POP3 server. Can you use your browser to access the Yahoo account via a webmail interface? If so, sign in - and check the content of your Inbox. If necessary, you may need to delete messages - or move them to a different folder on the webmail interface. To deal with unwanted synchronization, you can prevent WLMail from downloading messages on startup. You can also prevent WLMail from polling for messages from the Yahoo account. 1. Click on Tools / Options / General. Uncheck the box marked "Send and Receive Messages at startup". You can also alter or turn off the setting to "check for new messages every xx minutes". 2. Then, click on Tools / Accounts - and select the Yahoo account. Click on Properties and remove the check from the box marked "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing". Even if you disable automatic synchronization for this mail account, you will still be able to use manual synchronization. | | Re: Occasionally WLM will download all old POP3 messages from a Yahoo WLM or any POP3 mail client, can only download messages from the Yahoo Inbox folder, and optionally the Spam/Bulk folder. The latter is controlled by settings on the Yahoo web interface. If your anti-virus program is set to scan e-mail as it downloads, or you are running an anti-spam program, that program presents itself to WLM as the mail server. If that program has stored the messages somewhere, then it could be telling WLM that these messages are available for download. -- Mike - http://TechHelp.Santovec.us "Keith" <Keith@newsgroup> wrote in message news 637210B-8440-4B55-8C8C-20A36C266C35@newsgroupQuote: > About every day WLM will just start downloading thousands and > thousands (like > 50,000+) of old emails from a POP3 Yahoo account. It happens that one of my accounts (always the same) doesn't stop receiving messages and i have then to stop it manually. There are no messages left on the server (also pop3) The relates messages are stored in a map, but i see no reason why they should come from there. The account is only used to receive a newsletter from a certain site, so i was suspecting that site but now i am reading all that i do believe there is somewhere a bug. Regards Huib |

Except this time it was at 252,000 yes, that's right, 252 THOUSAND emails. It kept going up. I think there is a serious bug in the software. |

| | Re: Occasionally WLM will download all old POP3 messages from a Yahoo Hi, On that one i didn't think yet. I have still Windows Mail on my machine but in the inbox there no messages left they are only in available in maps. But how could that take place? How can i check if they would really come from my previous e-mail program? The problem is that i don't have it at any start-up but it happens regularly.
