Hello guys,

I would like to ask if someone knows if it is possible to get the Location
of the .eml of an email message that we browse with Windows Live Mail. I
would like maybe Drag and drop the email and the the .eml link or developing
a plugin that will copy that location to the clipboard to use it for creating
a Global URI.

extract the Location:

C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\xxxxxxx\Junk
E-mail\39F179FD-00000051.eml this link to create a Global URI!

You have to display the Message List in Two-line View to be able to get the exact location (via the Properties sheet) of a message in WLMail.

View->Layout...->Messages->(o) Two-line view

Then:

In Message List: Right-click message->Properties->General [tab]->Location:

You really are full of surprises! Who would have dreamt that the Properties
sheet shows different things in the different views. How on earth did you
discover that?

PS. I see you're still b64-encoding posts. Has this given any problems? It
sure makes tidying up replies a lot easier.

Hi Noel.

Some time ago, I was experimenting with the two-line view layout and noticed that the Properties sheet showed the exact Explorer location of the e-mail (in the Mail UI) and feed messages (in the Feeds UI), but not news messages (in the Newsgroups UI). I did wonder why news messages lacked this handy feature.

Some time later, in an upgraded build, I again went looking for the exact Explorer location in the properties sheet of an e-mail message but found it not!

My first thought was that the exact location feature had been removed, but I eventually realised it was because I was viewing the message list in one-line view.

Now I realise that even the Properties sheet of news messages will show the exact Explorer location when the message list is displayed in two-line view (e.g. All news Quick view in the Mail UI).

P.S. Yeah, I am a bit of a rebel in some ways. Although, I will revert to Quoted Printable if and when they fix the line wrap for it (it shouldn't line wrap, but it does). I am tempted to use a different newsreader so I can use QP without line wrap, but I hold out hope for the next version of WLMail.

I do find many advantages to avoiding forced line wrap, but the big disadvantage of using Base 64 is that most Web UI's do not decode such posts. They either do not display at all, or they only display in code.

This means that those posters using such an interface will not see my replies. So in some cases neither the OP nor other responders to a thread will see my reply. Leaving me with the comical situation of knowing I have offered the correct answer only to see my reply completely ignored by the OP and those responding to the thread after my post.

So I have to be vigilant and check the headers for the source of the of posts I intend to reply to, then respond using a more appropriate message format.

I always wished their was an 'Open Folder' or 'Find Target' option on that property sheet.

Ctrl-o Alt-Enter Doubleclick in Location: Menu, A Menu, C

If we could Tab to Location: you could make it a macro. <eg>

Related to this I have always wished that Notepad's File, Save As...
could optionally show us the original path. Then, for example, Ctrl-F2's
location could be easily discovered. ; )
