how to hide annoying news items

I have just installed live mail.
Someone said that I can hide news items from some people or certain
topics. I cant see how to do that can someone tell me how to do that?

    thanks.

When you open a news item that it annoys you, right click on the
author's name and select 'Add to blocked senders list'.

I am not aware of any way to prevent the display of news messages
in WLMail that contain 'certain topics'.

You can create a message rule...
Where the Subject contains ... 'linux'
    Delete it
    and mark it read
    and stop processing more rules

Instead of deleting posts you have no interest in you can mark them with
Ignore Conversation. Then just as the Watch Conversation does it will
propagate through the thread. A significant difference is that a post
marked with Ignore Conversation does not get its body downloaded even when a
    synchronize command is used.

With Ignore Conversation and an appropriate View. ; )

    FYI

If the unwanted post is already downloaded, adding that sender to the
Blocked Senders list has no immediate affect. It will block future downloads
of new posts from that sender. If you must get rid of a sender's existing posts,
sort all posts by sender, then do a block delete of the ones from that sender.

You have to change your View as well as mark the messages. The View hides
them. If you are ignoring a conversation you don't want to delete its
messages you want to make sure that they are marked ignored so subsequent
replies to it will also be marked ignored and thus hidden by the view.
Note that the reply could be made by someone other than the poster who made
you mark the thread ignored in the first place, so if you were just deleting
posts from a blocked poster you could still be reading their drivel as
    quoted by a responder.
