Every time I try to use live mail with an outgoing msg, it always says
connection to the server failed and won't run. If I delete the outgoing msg,
it logs in immed.

That's not the complete error message.
Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

First try this:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.
Then click on the Advanced tab and change port 25 to 587.
Try sending.
If no improvement, your account may have been migrated to the
AT&T/Yahoo mail platform. Try the settings given here:
