Windows Live 8.5 Installer

Hi all,

Yesterday I thought I would download and install the latest version of live
messenger. I went to the download site and to my horror I saw that the
traditional single msi file was no longer available to download. You now
have to download an installation wizard and then that gives you loads of
options to configure and then only download the program afterwards.

This wouldnt be too bad.... if it would work properly through my HTTP proxy
and was a bit quicker. I know of at least 4 people who have decided not to
upgrade purely because of how long this installer takes to install the
files.

Come on Microsoft...... back to a traditional single msi file for us to
download and install when we want without having to connect to the net on
each machine.

Cheers
Rt

Re: Windows Live 8.5 Installer

You only need one person to install the Live Messenger file.
The msi file(s) are stored in a folder on the machine and can be saved to
cd.

Re: Windows Live 8.5 Installer

Hi,

I installed Windows Live Mail and decided to uninstall it 3 days later. When
I tried to uninstall it I got an pop up windows installer message "The
feature you are trying to use is on a network rescoure that is unavailable"
.... Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to folder containing
the installer package "Install_{184E7118-0295-43C4-B72C-1D54AA75AAF7}" in the
box below

In the box, the path C:\Program Files\Common
Files\WindowsLiveInstaller\MsiSources\ is specified.

I looked in that directory and couldn't find the file mentioned.

I have no idea how to completely remove Windows Live Mail from my add or
remove program page. I tried to reinstall it and remove it again, but that
didnt' change any thing. Installing it again seems to have have completed
successfully, but I couldn't get Window Live Mail to launch.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mike

Hi Ethan,

Can you be more specific what this "found dialog" is that you're talking about?
