RE: Live Messenger 8.1 Error 81000378

I just found out something that seems to work sometimes. If u have ur
messenger set to remember you, have it forget you, then close messenger, and
try to sing in again. I tried everything i could think of and then this
worked 4 me

I tried this and same result as everything else. When it first happened; I
simply typed in Error code and every single thing I can do that showed, I
did. and still nothing. Will post if and when I solve my problem.

I had this problem yesterday, I tried EVERYTHING I could find online and
nothing worked. I used Windows Messenger after that. Just tried signing in,
no problems. Sometimes, you just have to let it take it's course.

RE: Live Messenger 8.1 Error 81000378

I have a more complex problem with the same error in my company. That makes
me cofused.
I have installed live messenger 8.1 build 8.1.0178.00 in windosw server 2003
standart R2 with application server mode.
I can connect msn from my own pc, but cannot connect via terminal server
session. But one of our staff can connect via terminal server session (the
same server) . In this case, no body can say that this is a network issue. We
all ara using the same server with the same rights and same network
configuration. By the way, some of the clients can connect to webmessenger.
(but sometimes but some of them connot.. I am so confused .. I really need
an exact solution to make our staff enable to work with terminal services.
Microsoft should take this issue more serious or we have to find another
communication solution.

Guys try this. It worked for me. when not signed in click on the help >show
menu bar then go on to tool>options>connection. Click Advance settings and
put in your user name including @hotmail.com or what ever and password in
the HTTP proxy server and port setting. Click test. It should connect to the
server and verify your connection. Once verified your good to go.

Hi,

If you don't have a proxy this obviously won't work I'm afraid.
