Re: windows live messenger 8.5 - why is mine in spanish?

Greetings Paul,

Which info exactly? The language version of the software itself is whatever version you
downloaded whereas the actual services, ads, tabs, etc. in Messenger are generated from the
locale/country set in your Windows Live ID account.

As such, the latter can be fixed by changing your locale here:

Re: windows live messenger 8.5 - why is mine in spanish?

I'm having a similar problem! The entire interface, menus and dialog boxes
are in Dutch. I'm a foreigner in Netherlands and don't understand Dutch. Its
not just the Live messenger but all the other installed programs also behave
in the same way. The Windows interface itself however is in English. I
checked my profile and it doesn't have the location set to any country. Its
blank.

This is some sort of locale issue which I've not been able to fix. I Changed
everything in Regional Language Settings in Control Panel to English and
United States. Still the interface is in Dutch. Again, the windows component
show english interface, components like Control Panel, Explorer etc.

Any idea how to fix this?

What is interesting is, In the internet explorer, the main menus are in
english, but the windows live toolbar is in Dutch. I'm running Windows Vista
by the way.

Re: windows live messenger 8.5 - why is mine in spanish?

I'm having a similar problem - I clicked on this link:
http://gallery.live.com/?mkt=cs-cz

And since then, every Windows Live page is in a language I don't even
recognize.
I can't find any way to get back to English, god only knows what links I've
been clicking.

I went to https://account.live.com/EditProf.aspx, and I think it says I'm in
the USA (assuming that Spojene staty americke means America).

I even went here http://www.live.com/settings.aspx and set my language to
English, but it doesn't seem to change anything.

At this point, I'm frustrated to tears, I assume that I'll never get back
into any Windows Live page on this computer, and I can't believe how
ridiculous this all is.

Re: windows live messenger 8.5 - why is mine in spanish?

similar problem, but for me it is the Windows Messenger Today window. I had the same Puerto Rico problem in Live, but fixed that, it did not fix Windows Messenger Today screen 8.5, and it is defaulting Latin as the collation language when I try to install SQL Server 2008 Express. My Windows XP regional setting is United States, every other language setting I can find says language English.

Re: windows live messenger 8.5 - why is mine in spanish?

Greetings,

The Today screen is based on whatever locale (country) is set in your Live ID, which you can
change here:
https://account.live.com/EditProf.aspx

As for Latin being the default collation in SQL Server Express, that is perfectly normal; it
is referring to the Latin alphabet (aka English, French, Spanish, etc.).
