is there a quick way to add a bunch of custom emoticons?

I have about about 100 gif's (actually, old messenger DAT files too) I would
like to add to add to Windows Live Messenger as custom emoticons. I tried
copying them into the CustomEmoticons folder but it didn't work. I think WLM
doesn't recognize them unless they are dl2 and id2 files.

Is there a quick way to convert all of these to dl2 and id2 files, or do I
have to run Messenger and add and name them one at a time?

I would really appreciate if anyone knows a shortcut.

    Greetings,

There are some old utilities around which used to do this which no longer work, no doubt
    you've tried some of them.

still works though. Just stick it in the folder with the emoticons, make sure no Messenger
dialog windows are open (like options, etc.), run it and hit the button.

You'll get an infinite loop error at the end but it will work.
