| | No cleartype from remote text. Before I think this is a bug, has anyone else noticed that text received from other people in a conversation does not use cleartype, but text I send uses cleartype in the conversation? |

| | Re: No cleartype from remote text. Greetings Peter, The reason you're seeing this is because the contact in question is using a client which does not comply to the Messenger protocol correctly. In other words, a third-party client (Pidgin, Adium, Trillian, etc.) which isn't sending the correct font header in its messages to you. When no [correct] font header is sent, Messenger defaults to MS Sans Serif raster font which is not capable of ClearType. In some cases I've worked with my contacts to get a font selected which solves the issue or Messenger Plus Live (www.msghelp.net) contains an 'Override Contact's Font' option which also can assist here. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Peter Ritchie [C# MVP]" <PRSoCo@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:01674BBC-4CF3-4C7D-B62D-8BFCAF44A1C7@xxxxxx Quote: > Before I think this is a bug, has anyone else noticed that text received from > other people in a conversation does not use cleartype, but text I send uses > cleartype in the conversation? |
