Messenger wont load after installing windows updates

I just did a clean install of Vista Business and installed WLM 8.5. It all
worked fine as it should, until I installed the very first windows updates
(40 of them) and restarted the computer. Now messenger wont load. It
appears in the running processes in the task manager but now does not show
the actual window or systray icon so I can log in. If I hibernate the
computer however, WLM successfully loads up and can be used as normal when
coming back out of hibernation. Restarting the computer presents the same
problem again.

Whats going on and how can I fix this?

Thanks!

Re: Messenger wont load after installing windows updates

Greetings Simon,

What you're describing is generally a problem with Messenger and a router on your local
network. Assuming you do have a router, you may need to either reset it (unplug it and plug
back in) and/or upgrading its firmware to the latest version from the router manufacturer.
