Can't change Display Name

I would like to change my Display Name in Windows Live Messenger 8.5 but the
option to enter something other than my email address is greyed out. I
registered this account through Xbox Live on my 360 so could that be the
reason? I'd really like people to see my name instead of my email, not that
they're much different, it's just shorter.

Re: Can't change Display Name

Greetings Snowpaw,

You won't be able to change your name if your Windows Live ID has not been verified. In
order to get verified, you need to click the verification link in the verification e-mail
that is sent to you when you sign up. If you need a verification e-mail sent to you again,
go here:
https://account.live.com/verifysi.as...rp=summarypage

Additionally, if you have "linked" one of your Live IDs, your account may no longer be
verified and that this time there is no workaround to get your account verified when it is
linked.

Re: Can't change Display Name

They never sent me a confirmation email, so I had to make them send it, thanks!

Re: Can't change Display Name

Hi,

You're very welcome -- sometimes the verification e-mails get caught by spam filters or other
problems like that.
