| Guest | Can't change Display Name I would like to change my Display Name in Windows Live Messenger 8.5 but the option to enter something other than my email address is greyed out. I registered this account through Xbox Live on my 360 so could that be the reason? I'd really like people to see my name instead of my email, not that they're much different, it's just shorter. |

| Guest | Re: Can't change Display Name Greetings Snowpaw, You won't be able to change your name if your Windows Live ID has not been verified. In order to get verified, you need to click the verification link in the verification e-mail that is sent to you when you sign up. If you need a verification e-mail sent to you again, go here: https://account.live.com/verifysi.as...rp=summarypage Additionally, if you have "linked" one of your Live IDs, your account may no longer be verified and that this time there is no workaround to get your account verified when it is linked. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Snowpaw" <Snowpaw@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:4E649845-4055-48CA-B6FF-325BEE81D012@xxxxxx Quote: > I would like to change my Display Name in Windows Live Messenger 8.5 but the > option to enter something other than my email address is greyed out. | Guest | Cannot change Xbox 360 LM account. The Live Messenger account associated with my Xbox 360 was cancelled and now I cannot change it. The old account was associated with a Office Live Small Buisiness account that I cancelled and no longer needed. Not knowing that I cannot change my LM account without keeping the old one current Iam stuck. When trying to change the account it wants the password for the old account which is obviously no longer valid. What are my options? |
