Live Messenger Log On - Routers

    Hi All,

A while ago I wrote the message below and I was very frustrated at not being
able to log onto Live Messenger.
I tried all the fixes I could think of, I took lots of ideas from these
    newsgroups - Nothing worked...

I happen to have a Linksys Router (WAG200), and I have just upgraded the
firmware from version 1 to version 6 - And guess what?...I am sure you can -
Messenger now works a treat. No changes or playing with Vista was necessary.

So - another tip to offer to people who cannot log onto Live Messenger is to
upgrade your router firmware - I am sure this is probably a good bit of
advice for any model and make of router.

I am a happy camper now.....

Thanks for all the help and advice though.

    DAVID

    Hi All

It has been about 2 weeks that I have not been able to log onto Live
    Messenger.

I have tried all sorts of fixes, uninstalling, deleting, re-installing,
downgrading to different versions that then tell me I cannot use Messenger
unless it is upgraded to the latest version.

I have also searched the Web endlessly and tried different suggested
    registry fixes, deleted keys etc.

I have also tried Jonathan Kay's registry patch, but all of this is no
avail. I still cannot log on - All I get the endless BUDDIES rotation away,
no messages as to what is happening Zilch information.

I am running Vista Home Premium, and have been a Messenger user for
    years....

Anyone have any ideas how I can get this fixed, or do I need to do a full
    and total Vista reinstall?

    Any help is gratefully received.

    Kind Regards

    DAVID

    Greetings David,

Interesting -- I wonder what they were doing inside the router to break it.
