microphone

i just got a web camera, and while i can use the microphone outside of
windows messinger when i try to use it with the program i can't be heard.
video is ok but even using a different mic doesn't help. i am using vista,
live messinger 2008, build 8.5.1302.1018.
can someone please tell me how to get it working?

What happens when you try it in the setup wizard? To get there, open up any Messenger
window, press the Alt key on your keyboard to bring up the menubar, choose the Tools menu and
then finally choose the Audio and video setup option.
