Unwanted messages containing links being received from MSN contact

I have started getting messages popping up on screen in my Windows Live
Messager that say 'Contact Name' has just signed in on a mobile device. Then
a second conversation window pops up that says something like: "Contact Name
says: http//link.link/info" The links are always different but all lead to
the same site (cannot remember name and not prepared to try again!). My
friends are NOT online and know nothing of this. I have been getting about
50 or 60 a day! I have up-to-date Windows Defender (I'm on Vista) and also
anti-virus (clean full sys scan). It has been suggested that Facebook may
have something to do with it. Does anybody know what this might be and how I
can stop it?

Re: Unwanted messages containing links being received from MSN contact

Greetings,

What you're describing is generally a Messenger virus -- facebook has nothing to do with it
(why would you think that anyway?).

Although the virus would be on your friends machines generally, not on yours (unless this is
a new variant).
