| | During video cam chats MSN live suddenly stops working, why? Pls H Hello, When I use MSN live messenger during a webcam/microphone conversation, a few things may happen: 1. Sound quality and video is bad: sound stops and image freezes (common) 2. The conversation stops: webcam and microphone closes so I have to restart the call (happens every 5-10 mins) 3. image freezes, sound stops, and MSN live disconnects and tries to reconnect again. How can I fix these issues? Are they all caused by the same thing? Also, sometimes my video image becomes black while the sound remains. I have the latest version of MSN 8.5. I am using a new Toshiba laptop that comes with webcam and microphone incorporated, and Windows vista. Also, I am running Webroot Spysweeper Antivirus and Antispyware I read in one of the forums that it may be the firewall. So, what I did was to first run the messeger while the Vista firewall was off, and the sound and video improved considerably (solving problem 1) but the conversation would stop still. Then, I unistall the MSN Live. Then, I deselected the following Firewall exceptions: Windows Live Windows Live Messenger (phone) Windows Live Messenger (phone) (I don't know why there are 3) any ideas? Then, I got to the microsoft official site and reinstalled Windows Live messenger 8.5. I turned on the firewall I started it, logged on without problems, but the firewall didnt ask for permision to let this program into the internet. Right now, I am quite confused and dont know what to do. I also downloaded the latest version of flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated, -- Thank you, Alex |

| | Re: During video cam chats MSN live suddenly stops working, why? Pls H Hi Alex Have you tried disabling Spysweeper Antivirus and Antispyware temporarily? If this does not work, you may even need to re-install Windows Live Messenger 8.5, with these applications disabled. I had an issue the other week with a similar antispyware product, blocking parts of Windows Live Messenger during installation.
