| | Webcam not connected error I have a Philips SPC520NC Webcam and although i see it on audio/video setup when I try to use it or I go to webcam setup, I get the message that it is not connected or is used by another program. The webcam works fine with skype and I see myself in audio/video setup of windows live messenger. I already tried to unistall it and install it again, but it didn't work. I have windows xp and the latest version of windows live messenger (8.1). Any ideas? |

| | Re: Webcam not connected error Greetings, Generally is usually a driver problem. Phillips cameras have been noted for this problem before. I'm not really sure if this will help, but it may worth upgrading to the latest version of Messenger (8.5) to see if this problem may be corrected: http://get.live.com/WL/all Just to explain what you're seeing though; what you see in the Setup wizard is separate from Messenger's actual video functionality. The real Messenger video functionality is tested in the "Webcam settings" dialog where it indicates it doesn't work. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "fanouli" <fanouli@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3AD090C9-4853-4777-A312-3367DA5ECCF9@xxxxxx Quote: > I have a Philips SPC520NC Webcam and although i see it on audio/video setup > when I try to use it or I go to webcam setup, I get the message that it is > not connected or is used by another program. | | RE: Webcam not connected error i'm having about the same problem. but when i try to video call a friend, he/she can see me... and i can see myself. but i can't see them. WLM still says "waiting for contact", i suspect it has something to do with my connection speed. then again, it might not be because my friend is receiving my video live... so it's probably just my WLM not being able to display the other person's video. why? i'm using WLM 8.5 on Win XP |
