Are past chats accessible?

If past chats are not saved, is there any way they can be "accidentally"
accessed (as in a cache or something like that)? Asking because I once
stumbled across fragments of AIM chats (although I can't remember exactly how)

Thanks

Re: Are past chats accessible?

Greetings Susan,

Nope, once that conversation has been closed the conversation is gone unless you have the
message history feature on, manually saved it or have some third-party like Messenger Plus
which saved it somewhere.

Re: Are past chats accessible?

Jonathan,
Although there isn't usually, there maybe fragments of the conversation
logged in the msnmsgr.txt file.
This is only there if you've enabled connection logging in the advanced
settings.

View the log file and then do a search for X-MMS-IM-Format and you
should see fragments of the conversations that you've been having with
people, along with the rest of the server messages.
