| | Reserving Windows Live IDs Hi All, The company I work for would like to reserver their domain so that people cannot create Windows Live IDs without their consent. Also, if employee's have created Live ID's with their domain, they would like the ability to cancel the account if the employee leaves the company. Essentially, they would like to administer the Windows Live IDs for their domain. Is this possible? Thanks, Kris |

| | Re: Reserving Windows Live IDs Greetings Kris, There are a few ways control like this would be accomplished. One is by using Windows Live Domains: http://domains.live.com Another would be setting up a federation agreement although that requires rolling out Live Communications Server and significant costs. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Kris" <k.vanderstarren@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:299e4979-4fa1-43f2-964f-a954170c0f8b@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi All, > > The company I work for would like to reserver their domain so that > people cannot create Windows Live IDs without their consent. | | Re: Reserving Windows Live IDs Thank you very much for the response Jonathan. I looked at Live Communication Server but, as you suggested, it seemed a little over kill for what we wanted to do. I signed up for an account at Windows Live Domains and added a domain to it but I can't seem to see how to restrict Windows Live IDs. Can you point me in the right direction by any chance? Thanks again. On Feb 2, 3:09 pm, "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" <msnewsrepl...@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: > Greetings Kris, > > There are a few ways control like this would be accomplished. | | Re: Reserving Windows Live IDs Hi Kris, I don't believe anyone can sign up for a Live ID on that domain once it's registered unless it's through your Admin domain panel. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Kris" <k.vanderstarren@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:93406a4c-829d-463d-9555-5afadf417440@xxxxxx Quote: > Thank you very much for the response Jonathan. | | Re: Reserving Windows Live IDs Thanks again Johnathan. I didn't try creating a new account yet but I have a Live ID for the domain in question and I haven't added my account through the Admin yet and it didn't give me any kind of error when I logged in to Messenger. Should it? | | Re: Reserving Windows Live IDs Ok, I just tried to create a new Windows Live ID for the domain and it appears that it's blocking the request. I received the following message: The portion of your e-mail address that follows the @ symbol is part of a "reserved domain" such as live.com, hotmail.com, msn.com or passport.com. Please type a different e-mail address. I'm going to do some further testing today to see if I can do anything about existing IDs. If anyone out there has any suggestions on how I can block existing IDs that were created before signing up for the Live Domains account, any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
