| | Re: Error 800706b5 I've laso been getting this same error (800706b5) with zero changes to the system. Ive tried uninstalling, repairing, running updates...nothing works. Seeing how this thread dates back to october of '07 I'm suprised there is no helpful advice from microsoft :| |

| | Re: Error 800706b5 -- For what it is worth I had the same issue today 05/05/2008. Initially I had a Stop Error, then rebooted. Vista Ultimate booted OK but it seem I had lost all password retention. I have ThinkPad T61 and the finger print reader had re authenticate my WIndiws password. all other apps that had passwords stored like Outlook 2007, Skype, Messanger , AOL Messanger had blank password fields. Even retyping they did not "retain". MSN Messager failed with 800706ba and would not retain the PW either. Outlook kept asking for the ISP password. I was about to do a complete system restore from a backup the previous day but instead installed Office 2007 SP1 and all are now fixed, including Messanger 800706ba. So would seem to be associated with Office. You miught try and repair or reinstall Office, or reinstall SP1 for Office 2007 if that is what you are using. | | Re: Error 800706b5 I had exactly the same thing happen to me today - no warning, just all my passwords wouldnt stick (Outlook 2003), this included Skype, Windows Live & Access Digital signing - all i did to rectify (lucky me) was reboot & all came back OK - still have no idea, but thats the joys of PC's, I'm afraid! |
