Windows Live Messenger and Corp SIP Server

Hello John,

Can you help us understand if there will be a new version of Windows
Messenger for Vista, or if SIP will be integrated into Windows Live
Messenger? Surely there must be something in the works..

What is the solution for a customer running Vista and wanting to connect to
their Corporate SIP server to communicate internally?

Re: Windows Live Messenger and Corp SIP Server

Greetings Trevor,

I'm afraid there is not, Windows Live Messenger which used to be MSN Messenger, dropped the
SIP functions back in 2002 (version 5). It is purely a consumer product.

The SIP functions from Windows Messenger were spun into Office Communicator and you'll need
to use that if you wish to connect to SIP-based communications services in Vista.
