Menu Bar

Hi everybody, I can not hide the menu bar of live messenger in the main
window and in the conversations windows, the show menu bar option it´s not
where it should be in the dropdown menu, the ALT key only works to underline
the shortcuts of the menu bar.

Thanks

Hi Imixe,

You can use the free program A-Patch to customize Messenger how you want it. It's a standalone exe program that does not install itself.

A-Patch for Windows Live Messenger & MSN Messenger

Re: Menu Bar

Try this run start/run/regedit.exe
and change the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\MainFrameHidden

from "01 00 00 00" to "00 00 00 00"

Close messenger main window and open it again

Even though I have an option "show menu bar" in the dropdown menu above
the add a contact/sort contacs icons.

Good luck.

Re: Menu Bar

And of course if you want to hide it change it to 01 00 00 00 from 00 00
00 00

Re: Menu Bar

To hide the menu bar in conversation windows change the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings\<YOUR
ID HERE>\IMFrameHidden

set to "01 00 00 00" to hide.

If you don't know your ID look in the "my received files" folder and you
can probably see which ID is which user.

Re: Menu Bar

Thanks for the help.
In fact it worked, although only when the window is not maximized. Is this
normal?

Re: Menu Bar

Yes the menu bar is always visible when the window is maximized.
