Error Code 0x8000ffff

Hi There All !!
I'm trying to install the latest version of Windows Live Messenger but the
following error message keeps popping up preventing the install to follow
through.
"There is a problem with the installation, windows live suite was not
installed.System Error Details..Code 0x8000ffff...Description-Catastrophic
Failure".
I'm hoping someone out there has a solution to correct this...
Thanks In Advance For Any Help I recieve..

Re: Error Code 0x8000ffff

Hi all - I'm having exactly the same problem. I had WLM Beta installed, but it was playing up so unistalled it from Add/Remove programmes. I've tried the msiexec command line given in this thread, but that just comes back with "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed".

Any more ideas please?

Re: Error Code 0x8000ffff

Greetings,

If you uninstalled it from Add or Remove then it's gone, the msiexec command just removes
it - which you've already done hence the message you're seeing.

If you're looking to reinstall 8.5, install from here:

Hi,

If you wish to install the beta version, follow the instructions under Messenger on my blog
as there's more than one component you need to install:

Thanks for that Jonathan - much appreciated. Got Messenger Beta working again - still got the same issues as before I uninstalled it, but at least I'm back to where I started and it's usable.

Re: Error Code 0x8000ffff

Minor things really like the new tabs not showing, e.g. the Facebook one appears occasionally (gives me the login screen where I enter my details, press enter and then the login screen just appears again) and then disappears again. Any ideas?
