Windows Live Messenger Games

Hi,
I have a Windows Live Messenger version 8.5.1302.1018, and I'm having
problems with the games. When I try to start a game, I get the message "The
list of activities or games is temporarily unavailable. Please try again
later." and when someone invites me to a game I get "Windows Live Messenger
is currently unable to start this program. Please try again later."
I have reinstalled in every possible way and even tried using version 8.1
but neither works.
And I read from somewhere something about unchecking the Tools -> Options ->
Security -> Always ask me for my password when checking Hotmail or opening
other Microsoft Passport enabled Web Pages -- this was unchecked to start
with.
To top this I have next to no knowledge of the intricacies of the computer,
so if any help could be given in an easy-to-understand way I'd appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

Re: Windows Live Messenger Games

Greetings,

Both the games and the games menu utilize Internet Explorer to display. Does Internet
Explorer work for you for normal web browsing?

Re: Windows Live Messenger Games

I don't know whether this will help the problem or not, but I am pretty sure
I'm not using the latest version of Internet Explorer. Should I download it?

Re: Windows Live Messenger Games

Hi,

No harm in trying -- however, Messenger does check your IE version before it will even start
to make sure you're using a compatible version.

RE: Windows Live Messenger Games

Wondering if you managed to get the games thing sorted. I haven't been able
to play games for nearly a week now.

RE: Windows Live Messenger Games

No, the problem still exists. And help has pretty much stopped coming now. I
guess we're stuck...

RE: Windows Live Messenger Games

Kaftun - yup - that's the same problem I'm having with this PC. This PC was
only online for a few weeks but everything seems to work great - plugins and
updates are installed. And another thing - clicking on site links seems to
freeze the chat window, there was this instance where the link did present
itself but only after the other party came offline teh... Ohh well - I'll be
so greatful for any assistance in the matter. Ohh BTW - it's windows XP,
abundant resources, fast enough net {rated 2mbps (average 256 kbps)}, various
browsers {firefox, IE}. Blessings for any light anyone can shed here - peace.
