Vista - cannot remove old live messenger beta to install required new vers

I am completely unable to use live messenger The new version is required to
continue and the old version cannot be removed What exactly is the solution?

What you'll need to do is remove the bits of the old install in the registry. To do so,
download and run the Windows Installer Cleanup tool:

It's pretty simple to use though. After the cleanup utility is installed (yes, more
installing), head over to Program Files\Windows Installer Cleanup and run the msicuu
executable. You'll be prompted with a list of installed products, including Messenger.
Just select Windows Live Messenger and choose Remove.

Now you should be able to install the latest. If you'd like a direct link to the latest
