Messenger is unable to detect avast!?

On opening file sharing folder it says - "Messenger is unable to detect
virus scanning software - download this"

I have Avast! working perfectly

Why doesn't it know?

Re: Messenger is unable to detect avast!?

Greetings,

You'll need to configure it manually for Messenger to know about it. To do so, press the Alt
key to bring up the main Messenger window, choose the Tools menu, then Options, then File
Transfer category, and you'll find the 'scan files for viruses using' option there.

I'm not quite sure what precisely you'll need for the path/executable for avast though.

Hi Jethro,

In addition to Jonathan's post, when you click on the Browse button to add the Avast scanner for Messenger, the file path is:

"C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe"
