insane cpu please help

ok i dont know whether this is the right place to post cos my problem is not
just exclusive to messenger but anyway im having insane cpu issues with both
messenger and flash on my vista ultimate machine, its a 3.2 ghz 1gb ram
machine but it seems to struggle to run messenger and flash.

they seem to start off ok but after a few minutes of running either one the
cpu usage shoots up and they both become nearly unusable, they both eat up at
least 60% cpu.

for messenger it only happens when i open a conversation window, if its
minimized then everything is fine, with flash it happens whenevr running it,
like iplayer, or the various flash players that stream content.

funny thing is other resource intensive programs like windows media centre
running two tv cards, timeshift, scheduled recordings etc have no issues so i
dont see how it can be a cpu hardware issue :|

is it a case of poor coding cos ive never liked flash at all or is there
some other root cause?

thanks in advance if anyone can help

Re: insane cpu please help

Greetings,

See what happens when you turn glass off.

To do so, just right-click on your desktop, choose Personalize, then Windows Color and
Appearance and then 'Open classic appearance properties for more color options'. Choose
Windows Vista Basic as the scheme and click OK.

Then try Messenger and various Flash things to see what happens.

Re: insane cpu please help

hey thanks for the reply, ive tried that and still get the same problem, ive
also noticed that with the iplayer and other web tv it only starts stuttering
when i put it in full screen mode however, little flash games also have the
same problem. messenger remains the same. 4od works fine as ive never had an
issue with windows media based content it just seems to be isolated to flash
and messenger. i should also say that it happens on both 8.5 and 9 and ive
got the latest version of flash
thanks
