| | UPnP queston Hi, I got a Speedtouch 510 multi pc modem, and according the manual it got a UPnP certificate. ( there are options to fully on, secure and off UPnP in the settings ) At the same time i read in the manuel that when using winXP, it is recommended to install UPnP. ( add/remove windows components, networking service, details, then select UPnP) I'm just confused: if i don't have this UPnP configured in Xp, does WLM use UPnP technologie to open my modem ports? When i need to install it to let it work, is it no problem to install it on other computers as well, on the same modem? Any advice is very welcome, heian |

| | Re: UPnP queston Greetings Heian, Yes, it is recommended that you switch it on in XP -- even just so you can monitor the status of it. However, you can see if Messenger is using and detecting the UPnP support by pressing the Alt key in any Messenger window, choose the Tools menu, then Options, then Connection category, and after allowing up-to 30 seconds for the data to be obtained, see what it says about your router (referred to as a NAT in the dialog). -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "heian" <siamlover@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:47fe5b22$0$25480$ba620dc5@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi, > > I got a Speedtouch 510 multi pc modem, and according the manual it got a UPnP certificate. > ( there are options to fully on, secure and off UPnP in the settings ) > > At the same time i read in the manuel that when using winXP, it is recommended to install > UPnP.
