Windows Live Messenger Unable to sign in

Hi,
I recently installed Windows live messenger, after installation I was
unable to connect to the service, I kept recieving an error code. After
trying for a while to resolve this issue I uninstalled Windows live messenger
and installed Yahoo 9 beta messenger. Which has not been a problem. I
installed Windows live messenger on a fresh fully patched version of Windows
Vista Home Basic, With Norton 2008 internet security, Spyware doctor,
Linksys wireless modem router. I consider that this issue could be Norton or
Linksys related, but I have no similar issues with Yahoo. My Computer is
almost new with ample recourses. I am rather disappointed about this issue as
I did want to stay with Windows Messenger.

Regards,

Andy

Re: Windows Live Messenger Unable to sign in

Norton internet security may be blocking authorization.
I had a 90 day trial with my computer and I could not log into a CPanel
account. I forget what I disabled.

Re: Windows Live Messenger Unable to sign in

Hey Andy,

It'd be easier to say what exactly the problem was if we had the exact error code or what
failed on the troubleshooter (if the troubleshooter was offered, it isn't always, depending
on the situation).

Messenger uses the same interfaces that Internet Explorer does to reach the Internet, as well
as require IE and Windows encryption libraries to be fully functional.

Re: Windows Live Messenger Unable to sign in

Hi Andy,

You mentioned that you have a Router. Make sure that you are using UPnP
is checked or Enabled.

Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) supports peer-to-peer Plug and Play
functionality for network devices.

For a D-Link Router, it is located in Advanced and Advanced Network.

In Services, make sure that Universal Plug and Play Device Host's
Startup Type is set to Automatic.

Re: Windows Live Messenger Unable to sign in

Hello, My name is Glenn and i'm having a some difficult issues the last few
days with Windows Live Messenger, to start ; I'm dutch and my english isn't
great, i hope you can help me though :P

Here's the situation ; I can't add contacts ! I've tried several ways,
googled for days, tried to find a solution but nope, nothing. I'm running
Windows Vista, i've tried reinstalling it for over 10 times, tried to delete
everything from windows live messenger, did system recovery, etc etc.
Whenever i try to add a contact it says "service is unavailable" Good to know
is that whenever i log in on msn, change my nickname, log out, and when i log
in, it's my old nickname again !

I'm really sorry for my bad english

I'm also really sorry if this is in the bad forums xD
