Vista Tutorial - Cannot sign in to Windows Live Messenger

Hi, my mate cannot sign into Windows Live messenger. He could a couple of
days ago with no issues. I can sign in on his computer ok, he cannot sign in
on my computer. He can sign into Web Messenger ok. Basically it comes up in
my Messenger as him being signed in, but on his screen just sits on 'Signing
In' screen in Messenger, and when i try to send a message to him gets error
on his screen 'cannot start conversation'. It just sits on the signing in
screen, will not load up to his contacts list window

Hi, I have the same problem... I tried to fix it following the instructions

but I couldn't fix the problem.

I finally got mine fixed. Went so so many troubleshooting steps from here:

In the end i disabled my AVG Antivirus instant messaging protection and it
worked perfectly ever since!
