| Trying to Install newest version of Live Messenger To start with I tried to update Version 8.1 without success on XP SP2. Then I removed both Live Messenger 8,1 and the Live Messenger Sign-In Assistant and tried re-installing the newest (8.5) version again without success. The error manifests itself as: -Click on Install SW. -Download WLInstaller -Starting Installer, Live Window opens saying something like" Please wait while Installer gets started" -This window then disappears and IE7 opens up to home.live.com And that is all. SW is not updated or re-installed. As I have de-installed V8.1 I can no longer communicate. What can I try now? Thanks for any ideas |

| Re: Trying to Install newest version of Live Messenger Jonathan, thanks much for your quick reply. Unfortunately that also did not work. I ran the exe, a Windows Live Messenger Installation Window came up, it ran for about 20 seconds and then the window disappeared without any diagnostic (and without having installed Live Messenger). Is there any method to log what what is happending? It is really strange as there are many other apps installed and the system does not respond in any way strange other then not to install Live Messenger. Any hints would be appreciated.
