Hi, I’m running version 8.5.1302.1018 on a vista SP1 machine. Messenger does
not change my status when I don’t use the machine for the configured length of time. In other words I appear 'online' all the time. I’ve tried changing the configuration of the status this has not worked. I’ve even removed and re-installed messenger. Neither has fixed the problem. The only option at the moment is to manually switch my status to Away, clearly I always forget. |

Hey Ian,
People have been experiencing this since Messenger's creation and it's actually very difficult to sort out what's causing it. Generally, it's some sort application or your screen saver that's keeping the input busy and preventing Messenger from detecting you're away. As a starting point, set Messenger to 1 minute with no other applications running and grab a pepsi and chill for a bit -- see if it'll detect it then. Assuming that works, you can then start to isolate what's causing it. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Ian H" <Ian H@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:BEBEE203-8EB4-495C-BC77-F318CFD72C6F@xxxxxx
