Vista - lost convosation windows

About 45 mins ago i lost the ability to see convo windows. I have
re-installed messenger live and this has not made any difference. I can see
the notification when someone sends me a message and can see notification
when someone signs in but if i try and open a convo window it just puts the
tab on the bottom of my screen adn the window never opens although windows
thinks it is open.
Can anybody shed any light on this?

They're probably displaying off the visible "screen".

To fix, when a conversation window "opens", right-click its taskbar button in the taskbar,
and if the 'Restore' option *isn't* grayed out, click it. Then press alt-space on the
keyboard and choose Move. Now just use the arrow keys to move the window back into focus of
your screen.
