Can't open any MSN Messenger Ad links

The little news and video blurbs, that run at the bottom of MSN
Messenger, do not open up a viewable browser window, when I click on the
"play" button - to look at a video, OR take me to an article - when I
click on the link.

It's as if all of them don't work.

They DID work at one time, on a past version of Messenger. Anyone got an
idea where I might begin troubleshooting this one?

Specs on Messenger - Windows Live Messenger version 2008 8.5.1302.1018

Short of that, if I remove it from XP, and re-install it, will all my
contacts disappear, or are they managed on the Server, where I have my
MSN Messenger account?

TIA!

Gil

Re: Can't open any MSN Messenger Ad links

Greetings,

These should open in your default browser. Whatever browser you prefer it may be helpful to
go ahead and re-confirm it's the default on your PC.

All contacts are on the server -- so you can sign in anywhere, completely reinstall Windows,
etc. and all your contacts will still be there.
