| Guest | Can't send message containing ".exe" Hello all, If I try to send an MSN message to a colleague and the text contains the sequence "setup.exe" the message is not sent. No error is seen at my end, but the message does not get to the recipient. eg: j:/12.0.ports/obj/installs/win/64/unicode/winapi/dev/dbg/files/setup.exe // fails j:/12.0.ports/obj/installs/win/64/unicode/winapi/dev/dbg/files/setup.exe/stuff // fails j:/12.0.ports/obj/installs/win/64/unicode/winapi/dev/dbg/files/setup.ex // works j:/12.0.ports/obj/installs/win/64/unicode/winapi/dev/dbg/files/setup.ex/stuff // works j:/12.0.ports/obj/installs/win/64/unicode/winapi/dev/dbg/files/setp.exe // works Any reason for this? How can I fix it? Cheers, john. |

| Guest | Re: Can't send message containing ".exe" Greetings John, There's a number of rules which enforce spams and malware from spreading against Messenger and you've obviously just hit one. There's nothing you can do but obfuscate the links. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "JohnD" <johnd@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:eYmbVluxIHA.4952@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: Can't send message containing ".exe" Thanks Jonathan, I did find some lists of banned sequences online, none of them mentioned setup.exe, but I guess you are correct. A bit annoying if you ask me, especially that at my end I got no notification that the message was not going to get through. It's only text after all. /john "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" <msnewsreplies@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:F3B17F5F-0243-4687-9625-82D89C3E8AF3@xxxxxx
