Vista - Can't send messages

I have a very strange problem: I can receive winks, nudges, notifications and
all the other stuff you can receive, but while I seem to be able to send
winks and nudges, and others are shown in their contacts list that I am
signed in, I CAN'T DELIVER MESSAGES! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I would like an email with any suggestions along with a reply, as I may
forget that I made this thread. Thank you for any help that may come my way.

Does this still occur after upgrading to the latest beta version of WL
Messenger client?
